Visited due to a good amount of good reviews for brunch/breakfast. I got the Johnny D's skillet which is a combination of hot Italian sausages, scrambled eggs and homemade fries and a side of muffins which was amazing! The dish was literally sizzling hot when I got it and the spiciness was delicious without hurting my tongue. Definite recommend. Price was approx. $9.50. Also got the triple threat or some name similar to that? Comes with 3 pieces of bacon, 3 eggs, and 3 pancakes. Great for the price of $8.99 I must say. Great last stop in the area to end our trip.

First time here was yesterday morning for breakfast! It was so delicious we had to come back again for breakfast today! Servers are very friendly and fast to get your food out even when they are very busy! Great food, a must try for anyone!

I'm giving four stars to the cinnaroll waffle. Delicious. Very light and fluffy waffle with delightful cinnamon and frosting yumminess on top. The other things we ordered were three stars (decent but not amazing), but I will happily come back to order this waffle again!

Johnny D's waffles are great!! Both the original and cinnamon roll! Corn beef has excellent as well! Chicken and waffles was good, the chicken was not as seasoned as I like it but still good. The bacon and cheese omelette was excellent! My son loved it, very cheesy!! The fajita omelette was good as well. I would visit here again.

The menu at this place is HUGE!! So many choices, so much space in my stomach! This is a good place to go even if you are on a low carb diet, because they have an impressive list of omelets. For the calorie conscious, or very healthy eater, they have oatmeal and fruit. And numerous salads. You can also pick items a la carte if you are not a big eater. I ordered the Irish skillet, which is Corned Beef and onions layered with home fries and jack & cheddar cheese topped with two eggs. This was served with a deliciously buttered and toasted bid English muffin. It was absolutely delicious. My husband, the great adventurer, got the Jack Attack ,which is the boring egg/pancake/bacon combination. He was pleased with his choice. The only thing that was disappointing was the cappuccino. Stay away from that. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend it.

Best breakfast i've had in a while! Love it here. I got the Coconut banana French toast waffles with cinnamon drizzle, and a vanilla frappachino. It was a wonderful meal. Must go when you visit MB!

Absolutely amazing red velvette waffles. Super flaky melts in your mouth. I also ordered a side of chicken tenders and they were fresh made from scratch with great flavor. The place was packed but service was fast and kept checking on you.

Absolutely the only place to get breakfast in Myrtle Beach. Outstanding. We spent our breakfast figuring out how many times we can come back before we eat home. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options. Definitely something for everyone. Will most certainly be back. Kudos to the chef and the kitchen team.

Found this place on yelp! Thank goodness because everything we had had so far on this trip to Myrtle Beach was horrible. We went in and got a seat right away for 7. The food was fresh, fast, and very good. The manager even came over and said good morning. That goes a long way! Our waitress was very attentive and did a great job. The food was plentiful and my dad said you could tell the eggs were fresh. We got some cupcakes to go however they were a bit dry. You could tell they had been sitting in the cabinet a while. All and all a place I would defiantly go back too and recommend to others! A great last place to eat to wnd our vacation!

Had a terrific breakfast here on a recent trip to MB. Food was fantastic and the staff was friendly and efficient serving our large group of 12, ages 5 to 78! Must try the homemade corned beef hash, it was to die for as were their homemade potato chips. Everything we ordered was good.

Yummy, yummy, yummy. Husband had the chicken and waffles and I had Johnny's skillet. The menu options looked so great, we will definitely make another visit this week. Service was also exceptional. During our meal, a gentleman came out to make sure everything was to our liking. It definitely was and worth all five stars.

Great yelp reviews brought us in, and Johnny D's totally lived up to expectations. The family loved it - great food, great service, excellent chicken and waffles. My only regret is that we didn't have a chance for a return trip so I could try the red velvet waffle or one of the many other amazing-looking items on the menu! Check them out!

Absolutely fantastic! One of The specials for the day was a sausage gravy waffle, so on top of our breakfasts, we got one of those to share at the table. It was the most interesting waffle I've ever tasted.. I can't pinpoint what was diffferent about the batter, but it was a very soft waffle. Which went great with the gravy. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the portions were just too big (not really that bad of a complaint really!). But it left us so full that we had to change our plans and go take a nap. I had the Irish Skillet... corned beef hash over sliced potatoes with jack cheese, 2 eggs and a little hollandaise sauce. It was rich and delicious. The english muffin that came with it was disappointing. It tasted like they used some kind of spray butter maybe on it. I left most of that behind. My 8 year old neice ordered chocolate chip pancakes. The waitress failed to clarify if she wanted the child's portion or the full one and foolishly brought the full portion. Most of that was left behind also. Other dishes at our table: california benny, enchilada benny and the coconut banana french toast waffle. The only complaint that I heard from anybody was that the coconut banana concoction (which looked like a fancy dessert) was simply too sweet to eat much of. Johnny D himself came out to say hi when he heard how much we enjoyed the sausage gravy waffles. He seemed like a really nice guy. Overall... we were sad to have to leave so much food behind, but were pleased with our meals for sure!

  • Christine B.

We were super stoked to try it out. My husband & I ordered coffee and the waitress dropped off our cups only to my disappointment that my coffee cup had pink neon lipstick on it! I ordered eggs, toast, and super crispy bacon (stressing ALMOST burnt) and it came out not crispy at all. My kids ordered it the same way, and none of it was crispy. The cinnamon roll waffle was delicious, we enjoyed everything but it was a little disappointing. We will probably give it another chance, but again the lipstick laced cup was really gross and how someone who works there didn't see it is beyond me.

Took the family for a late breakfast here today. We were very pleased. The kids all had pancakes and bacon, and all were stuffed and happy at the end. I had to sneak a taste of their pancakes, and they were really good! Thick, fluffy, and extra tasty! I had the florentine eggs Benedict, which was DELICIOUS. Perfectly poached eggs and just the right amount of hollandaise. Service was quick as well. The owner came to talk to us to make sure we were pleased. He was very friendly. Only compliments and no complaints for this place. We will make sure to stop here every trip to Myrtle Beach!

Very happy with our family experience here. We went to brunch today. The food and service was great. Wife and I had omelettes and kids had waffles. My oldest had the cinaroll waffle. I never saw her eat anything so fast in my life. I had the ultimate omelette and wife had a healthy egg white, spinach, tomatoes and mushroom omelette. The food was good as was the value - about $50 w/ tip for family of 5. Definitely check it out.

Best eggs Benedict we've ever had (we had the California and chipotle bacon). The atmosphere itself is loud -- everyone is seated in one big dining hall -- with a lot of families and children, so it'd be a great place to go with kids and not have to worry about disturbing others, not so much if you're looking for charm or a quiet spot. On the surface the place gives off a Denny's kind of vibe, but the food and prep is top quality. Also had attentive and friendly service.

  • Jessi R.

The Irish Skillet was delicious and the Cinnamonroll Waffle was heaven on earth, with the right amount of sweetness. The server was very helpful. We will sebd all our friends and family there for sure!

  • Matt D.

The atmosphere is really annoying or at least it was too me. It's a small place. So you end up hearing every conversation from around the room. It seems like the talking volume escalates as everyone tries to compete with other tables just so they can hear their own conversations. Service was great as all the women their seem to run their butts off, and as opposed to the other tourists traps in Myrtle, these are women serving you. Not some 19 year old Russian who is working here for the summer. There is obvious pride and ownership going on here. It difficult to screw up breakfast, but it's also difficult to keep it from not being average. This place is outstanding and served me one of the best omelets I've ever had. I'm not into the gimmick breakfasts, but there were plenty to choose from. I would definitely go here again.

Was in search for a good breakfast place that would be new to us and a little different than ihop, Dennie's, Cracker Barrel, and Waffle House. We took to yelp and discovered Johnny D's was only a short distance from the convention center which we were staying at. They had lots to choose from and we were surprised by the healthy pancake option. We were not disappointed and the coffee was excellent!

  • Brooke B.

Great place for breakfast! I had the cinnamon roll waffle and this is not the "throw the cinnamon roll in the waffle iron" Pinterest recipe. This is legit! He had the Red Velvet Waffle and Sausage & Cheese Omelet it was also delicious. Awesome food, fast service. Pretty noisy place, but that's probably going to be pretty typical on a Sunday morning breakfast joint in Myrtle Beach. Service was great, host/owner was kind and friendly. I liked Eggs Up a little bit better cause you can't beat their Banana's Foster pancakes, but this is surely a close 2nd. Would go again!

  • John K.

We had a family breakfast there Sunday. Place was crowded and we had a short wait for a table, but the menu was extensive and the choice was hard. I had the Farmer's Omelette and loved it. Others enjoyed their eggs Benedict and various Belgium waffles. Great service. Would definitely go back again.

  • Mary B.

To sum up this place, I would say 'meh'. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Standard diner type breakfast food. The menu was extensive, but they seemed very strict about the 'no substitutions' and I didn't really feel like I could ask for anything than what was written (not that, that needs to be a requirement for a restaurant). Grits comes with everything and getting home fries instead cost you $.99. We had coffee, tea, chocolate milk, and green tea chi. All good, but kind of expensive drink wise. We ate poached eggs & toast, Irish skillet, seafood eggs Benedict, and California eggs Benedict. Some of us said the food was better than others (seafood eggs Benedict loved it), but in general just left something to be desired and kinda bland. Nothing really special about this place and given the ratings I was expecting a little more. I would choose someplace else if I were you, but it'll fill your belly if you need it. Cost definitely didn't justify it.

Johnny D's is the very best breakfast/ lunch eatery along the Grand Strand. The menu is extensive and very creative. The dishes are always delicious and well presented. Customer service is second to none. Every time that we have eaten there, we were sincerely asked if our meals were prepared to our satisfaction. The staff is so friendly and make you feel like a valued customer.

Breakfast here was delicious. They have a large menu and our waitress was very friendly. The Cinnamon Roll waffle my daughter had was amazing - a must order item if you go... My eggs Benedict were delicious (fantastic sauce) and my husband's Western Omelette was perfect. Our server was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. This was a wonderful, local alternative to some of the larger chain restaurants. I would highly recommend this cute little restaurant to anyone looking for a great place for breakfast.

Wonderful breakfast. The owner stopped by to greet us. We ordered Belgian waffles, bananas foster muffins, the cinnaroll waffle and blueberry pancakes. Friendly staff. Clean, neat, bright and cheery venue. Definitely will be on our list to visit again on our next trip.

I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict. The English muffin appeared to be home made. The dish was delicious. The restaurant was thoroughly clean. And the service was excellent. Tables were bussed quickly. And the manager/owner had a hands on approach to customer service. The food was brought out promptly and was hot. I would eat here again.

My omelet was amazing, sausage, ham, green peppers, cheese. Delicious. The hash browns are also very good. My husband's pancakes were delicious, and so was his country fried steak. Highly recommended!

I just love this place. The wait staff is 1st rate and the food delicious. You get what you ask for and it's just as ordered. Chef Jamie walks around the dining area asking how your meal is and making small talk with patrons. Something practically unheard of around here. You feel like you're at home. I am a person who likes a cheeseburger for breakfast. No problem here. Plus it's made to order and delicious. The crab cakes are wonderful too. Their waffles are the best I've had as are their pancakes. The entire menu (which is huge with offerings) is imaginative. The specials are different than anyplace in the area. Don't forget to bring home some cupcakes, cake or canoli they are to die for. Do your taste buds a favor and try this place...you'll keep coming back for more.

Food was great. Portions were a bit small on the gourmet waffle offerings, but very tasty. Service was good, waitress was not overly friendly, but seemed quite hurried and was attentive! This is in the Old NIBILS restaurant and still has the same decor. Go check this place out, it is yummy!

As recommended! The Huevos Rancheros were very good and my wife's mushroom and Swiss omelette was very fresh and flavorful. Jonny D even came out to ask how everything was!

The five star reviews are what brought us here. Even with the reviews I was immediately surprised by the fact that the place was almost empty. Maybe just a slow day I thought. The coffee was good. The waitress seemed nice but a bit too hurried. We ordered our food and we decided that we'd share a banana split sundae waffle. This was a big mistake because they brought the waffle out about five minutes before the rest of the food. It being sweet, we intended to eat it last but the waitress said that we should eat it before the ice cream melted. Huh??? Why not just make it at the end and bring it out with everything else. Turns out they had another order of waffles ahead of ours and decided to make ours with theirs. Again, huh???? If that wasn't enough the ice cream on the waffle was re-frozen as it was more ice-crystal than ice-cream. The only thing that we did like out of the four other dishes was the huevos rancheros. Steer clear of the portobello skillet which was super bland and didn't even have portobello mushrooms in it(they were out). Finally we were presented with aggressive responses to our objections from the waitress and her manager when we raised our issues with them. However they did credit the waffle entirely and the skillet 50% which was a good gesture on their part.

Super impressed with their breakfast! I got the farmers omelet and it was delicious. My daughter got the pound cake French toast and my wife the Greek omelet...once again fantastic. Had to wait about 15 mins for our table, not bad at all. Waitress was fast and polite. I would say it's a little pricey but you pay for what you get, the portions are plenty. We will see them again soon!!

THIS A DISGUSTING PLACE FULL OF AWFUL PEOPLE. Alright, the restaurant seemed great after reading the yelp reviews. Our server was nice, we were seated immediately, due to the fact that no one was there. I asked for fresh squeezed oj, and it and the other drinks our party had gotten had arrived fast. The coffee was okay, but the starbucks near our hotel would have been better. My party had ordered the huevos rancheros, California Benedict, egg quesadillas, a banana split waffle to share, and I had the portobello (however they were out so I got regular mushrooms instead) skillet. For some unknown reason to us at the time, they had decided to give us the waffle first. The first thing you notice when you see the waffle was that there was a pound of ice cream on it, certainly too much for breakfast. Our waitress had told us that they wanted to give it to us because the ice cream would melt, but why didn't they just make it later? We had decided to eat it after our meal. The savor components of our meal had came quickly, and they didn't look too bad. The Benedict was alright, so was the huevos rancheros. But the quesadillas weren't good and had given a member of my party an awful stomach ache, and they had came with a watery salsa and brown guacamole. My dish was disgusting however, there was a chewy layer of transparent mozzarella that tasted like bacon grease and rubber bands, and the eggs and vegetables weren't seasoned at all. However, the waffle was absolutely disgusting, it wasn't crunchy and tasted like plastic wrapped airline waffles, the ice cream contained actual ice crystals, and the banana was frozen, brown mush. The worst part of our meal, was the confrontation. When our waitress had asked us how our meal was, we had complained about the waffle, and then I had complained about my dish, to which she said "I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THAT LEMME GO GRAB MY MANAGER" So the manager came and she was all like "UM WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR FOOD" so I had said "Well it's really bland, it could use some seasoning" in a calm and collected voice. However she had taken extreme offense and said "OK LOOK I SEASONED IT MYSELF, EVERYONE LIKES IT WHY DONT YOU" I felt like I was about to cry, so another member of our party said "Okay she just didn't like it" so she took it away and then discounted our meal. She took off the price of the waffle but only half of my dish. Overall, our experience was awful, the food wasn't good, and it felt like the staff was attacking us.

I was excited when I saw this place was within walking distance from our condo. I was little worried when I saw two recent one star reviews but I investigated them a little further and I wasn't too worried. The first thing I noticed was very reasonable breakfast specials including a drink for under $5, but who can say no to Coconut Banana French Toast Waffles? I got that, my girlfriend got the Huevos Rancheros and both were awesome. The menu is full of creative breakfast ideas and about 98% of the menus is under $10. Interesting menu items at a steal of a price get this place Five stars.

I can't say enough good things about Johnny D's! The service was fast, the food was excellent, and they do make a mean waffle! The best part was seeing one of the waitresses go out to a man who was down on his luck and offer water and some food. It was very classy, and made an already great eating experience even better. Convenient location, 100% recommend!

Myrtle Beach is kind of a hotbed of mediocrity, food-wise, unless you're willing to look. Well, there's no need to ever try any of the other breakfast joints in Myrtle Beach ever again. We've been to a lot of them, and Johnny D's destroys them all... by far. Johnny D's is a breakfast place/luncheonette that could do well in any big city-- it's that good. We showed up about 30 minutes before closing on our next to last day in town. It was pouring and we'd slept in. Coffee and a big breakfast was in order. We were so sick of the lukewarm and bland pancake house dreck that is so common on Kings Highway, so we hit up Yelp and decided to give this place a try. We were seated immediately, and I will say that when we walked in, it smelled a little more of cleaning products/mustiness than bacon and waffles. They were cleaning, and it was the end of their opening hours, so I'll forgive. Our server was Kate, and she was straight up awesome; quick, lightly chatty but not overbearing, and helpful. We got coffee right away and OH MY GOD THE COFFEE IS ACTUALLY DRINKABLE! REAL COFFEE AT A MYRTLE BEACH LUNCHEONETTE, THE LAND THAT REAL COFFEE FORGOT! HELL FROZE OVER THAT DAY AT JOHNNY D'S! We were seriously shocked, and so, so happy and excited. What a great start. We ordered a bunch of stuff: the Irish Benedict (a combo of corned beef hash and Eggs Benedict-- I mean come ooooooon...), the California Benedict (Eggs Benedict with tomato and avocado instead of the bacon), and a red velvet waffle. It all came out quickly, and, well, every bite of it was a revelation. A hot, fresh, revelatory revelation. The corned beef hash was scratch made, seasoned perfectly, and topped with a gorgeously tender poached egg and real deal hollandaise. Amazing. The California was incredibly rich- the combination of the avocado/hollandaise/egg yolk was something otherworldly. Note: I had to salt this one. I am kind of a picky gal about seasoning, so it might have been salted enough for others, but I felt it needed it. And now we come to the waffle. I make red velvet cupcakes at home- we like them because they are super moist and not very sweet. This waffle was everything that we like about the cake, but in a crispy, melt in your mouth waffle form. So, so great. Even my husband, who really only does savory breakfast, destroyed his half in record time. Cannot recommend highly enough. Seriously, this place should be on every Myrtle vacationer's MUST VISIT list. We went back today on our way out of town and ate a bunch of amazing stuff again-- the pancakes are stupendous- fluffy, airy, everything a pancake lover could want; the pound cake French toast is equally delectable. Due to the cleaning product smell and the slight lack of seasoning on the Cali Benedict, this joint is a solid four and three quarter stars. I could NOT give it four in good conscience. Go there immediately, and go hungry. And stop going to those lousy other pancake houses. There is no need anymore.

For a wide selection of breakfast and lunch this place is worth the money! Breakfast was good and the cupcakes they have were perfect! Very moist and delicious! They also have a rewards card for every time you eat or spend money there you get points for it. Staff is super friendly and great atmosphere.

Quite busy place for a late breakfast if you like. Food was good not great. Belgium Waffle very good. The place was full and therefore very loud. Outside seating is avaliable but was not offert. This busy place needs some accoustic changes and maybe a bucket of paint. Prices are good and worth in exchange. The choices are endless and you should be able to find what you like.

Food was great. I ordered the California Benedict. It was good though the avocado was ice cold, chilling the egg and hollandaise sauce as well. Service was great. Shanda was great. Acoustics were awful. Please try to add something to absorb the noise. To try and hold a regular conversation among 3 people we literally had to shout across the small table.

After reading several yelp reviews, we decided to try this place out for breakfast. It did not disappoint! I'm a little sad we came here on our last day because I would definitely eat here again. Great food and great prices. The biggest challenge was making a choice from all the yummy options. Everyone was very pleased with their food. I tried the Red Velvet Latte, and it was amazing. I ordered the Chipotle Bacon Hollandaise, and it was absolutely delicious with a side of home fries. Everything was cooked to perfection: the poached egg, the bacon, the english muffin, and the sauce. The chipotle sauce packed just enough heat and went so well with the guacamole. The bacon my family received was nice and crispy. My very pick 5 yr old ate over half of her pancakes and extra bacon, which is definitely a rarity. The pancakes are huge. The service was great as well. The waitress was attentive and patient with our table. We had three adults and four children ages 1, 5, 10, and 12. Everyone left stuffed and happy. A must try when you're in Myrtle Beach. It beats any of the chain restaurants any day. The price was great as well. $71.xx for my family before tip.

Good place for breakfast. Nice selection of choices. We had the chicken and waffles and cinnamon waffle-both of which are decent. Home fries were outstanding. No WIFI which in this world of Internet is disappointing. Coffee was just okay.

Great food, family took me there for Father's Day brunch. Good service and excellent eggs Benedict. Will definitely come back next time we are MB.

Cute place, cleanliness and customer service is on point. The menu has a lot of variety and creativity. Things like red velvet waffle, banana split waffle just to name a few. I tried the Coconut banana French waffle. It was delish-fresh whipped cream to top it off. The next time I'm in Myrtle Beach I will come back here.

Had brunch here and I can definitely say it was the best we had while visiting Myrtle Beach for Christmas, hands down! I had the California eggs Benedict and it was so good. Everything tasted fresh and the service was excellent. Fortunately, I was able to try their waffles, the last morning we were there before heading back to the DMV. I'm so glad I did because I'd probably regret not doing so. They were just as pictured and tasted even better! Oh, and their hot chocolate was the real deal, not that watery stuff in the packet that you often get at other places. I highly doubt we'll be back in SC, but if ever we are, we'll definitely be going back to Johnny D's!

I am so mad. I am sooo mad that Johnny D's Waffles and Bakery is not in Asheville so I could eat there every day. Then again, that could be a good thing because then I would be starring in "My 5'1" 700 Pound Life" if Johnny D's was there. That cinnaroll waffle was nothing short of divinely inspired. The owner came out to see how everything was and I literally got up and hugged him. A waffle made me hug a total stranger (I'm Latin, we're like that). If this waffle was a Miss Universe contestant and said it wanted world peace, world peace would be achieved in a matter of minutes. Our server, Dana (who was fantabulous), said it was the most ordered item on the menu and I can totally see why. If I worked there, I would just bring every person that walked in that waffle, even if they didn't order it. We'll be back tomorrow since we're in town for a convention. I'll be taking cupcakes home, too, for the Mr. and my ravenous boys. Johnny D's...you rock so frickin' hard!!!!

Food was good but the hot chocolate and "latte" not so much. They charged almost $4 for a tiny latte that was nothing more than a powdered mix...

The food was great but the service was lacking. The red velvet frappacino was supposed to be there new big thing but the waitress made it horribly. It had huge ice chunks and was undrinkable. When I asked for something else she gave a little attitude. At first I wanted the Irish eggs Benedict on a bagel....but they were out of bagels..... Other than the frappacino and the bagel issue, the chicken fijita omelette was AMAZING! The salsa that came with the omelette gets 5 stars! The bacon waffle was really good! The bacon was nice and crispy even inside the waffle! The cheesy scrambled eggs were just average. They charged extra for almost everything. The atmosphere of the restaurant was just average. It needed to be remodeled. And it got really loud when there were too many people in there. When you're done you pay at the front. As we were paying the 2 ladies at the front were trying to force us to buy some cupcakes (the bakery part of the place I suppose). The cupcakes looked good but I just wasn't in the mood. The ladies were way to pushy. It was unprofessional.

I had to think long and hard about this review. We entered the restaurant, being greeted and seated quickly. Our server "Shelby" introduced herself and took our drink and food orders. She was pleasant enough, its unfortunate though that we were never offered refills. Speaking of drinks, I find it difficult to believe that a place in the south doesn't offer fresh brewed sweet tea. They list "Gold Peak" on the menu. I ordered a soda. Our Daughter ordered a Chocolate chip Waffle. She declared that it was delicious. A little bit rich, but delicious. She was happy. A big fluffy, crisp waffle. My Wife order the "Jack Attack". She enjoyed each bite. Also noting that the eggs were cooked to her liking. Plenty of food on the plate to eat. My wife didn't finish do to the quantity. I ordered a bowl of grits, with butter and cheddar cheese. I also ordered biscuits and sausage gravy. The grits were excellent. The bowl is quite large, which I appreciated. I would have preferred shredded cheese, but sliced is fine. Ample butter was included. Now for the biscuits and sausage gravy. This is where things go astray, for me anyways. Before I get into the dissection of the dish, let me digress. Im a southern boy. I have eaten more biscuits and gravy then I could even count. I scratch make the dish at home, I eat it at restaurants. I don't recall the last time I was so dissapointed that I didn't even eat them. Here goes. I knew I was in for a treat when the plate was set down in front of me and the gravy had a distinct shade of orange. Yes, orange gravy. Think pumpkin orange. I took one bite of the gravy and knew this wasn't your typical gravy. It had an overwhelming taste of onion powder. Not to mention other flavors that, as far as I am concerned, don't belong in sausage gravy. I have a faint idea as to what else was added, clearly some red spices, which would explain the orange shade. The biscuit, the one bite I took, was dry and crumbly. On a positive note, it was an ample amount of gravy that was smothered on. I quickly decided that this wasn't the dish for me. As I polished off my grits, a gentleman came up to the table. I got the impression that he was the owner. He asked how our food was. We told him everything was fine, with the exception of the biscuits and gravy. I get the feeling that I offended the gentleman. He didn't seem to change his demeanor when we reassured him that everything else was delicious. His only concern was my dislike for the 1 dish. He picked up the plate and walked off. I assumed this would be the end. We checked out at the register and started to exit the building. Here came the gentleman again. Asking about my dislike of the dish, again. Asking specifically what was wrong. I commented that the flavor was too strong. He then asked if I have ever eaten biscuits and gravy before? I reassured him that I have eaten plenty., which I have. I wished him a good day. Overall, the visit was very pleasant. No doubt, our next trip back to the beach, we will stop in and have breakfast again. I will just choose something else.

We are here for Ripken and saw this gem on yelp. This place is terrific Chipotle bacon Benedict , Johnny D s Benedict , cinnamon and bacon waffle just a few of our dishes and they were yummy ! You will not be disappointed , plus the staff extremely friendly ! Forgot to mention. They have mimosa 's !!!

What a great breakfast place! A red velvet waffle - who does that!? They do and it's delicious! We also had the cinnamon French toast - also delicious! I asked for a side of crispy bacon, which was exactly what I got - nice and crunchy. My daughter had the strawberry French toast and loved it. I would love to try more menu items and we will definitely go back. They have a great selection of bakery items - mostly sweet treats - to go. Service was excellent. In an area where so many restaurants are ordinary, this place really stands out.

Great breakfast food! Loved the service and the red velvet pancake was amazing. The pancakes and omelette were fantastic also. The only complaint there was a strange odor when we first walked in. That smell went away and the food was great.

Bottom line placed was packed. Tourist season Myrtle Beach. Waitress running 5 directions at once. She forgot things. Food average. Wait was long. Thought with the reviews it would be better. Sorry won't be back. NOTE: I received response from the chef as to my concerns. I am local and understand the huge amount of volume that comes with the tourist season. However they are literally a hundred places to eat from little river to garden city. A lot of the restaurants are breakfast places. With so many choices you have to be on your game at all times. Appreciate your reaching out. However, I believe the review was accurate. A 20 minute wait to sit took 20 minutes and that was accurate. However 20 minutes for part of the food to come out, followed by another 5 minutes to bring out what was forgotten is not. I eat out quite often and if I'm paying for quality and service it needs to be above average at a minimum. Forgetting the toast on one order, the fruit on another and deciding to ask the table next to us for the ketchup because it was forgotten isn't cutting it. Too many choices here locally to accept that. Again nothing personal

Anybody who frequents Myrtle Beach knows that there are a lot of breakfast places here. My family and I were looking for a new place to get breakfast, so we checked out Johnny D's. The menu was HUGE and there were so many cool sounding things. Our waitress was really friendly and the service was fast too. The food was pretty good. I docked a star because I was slightly underwhelmed; the pictures in the menu made the food look super scrumptious, but it was just okay tasting. My sister and I both liked our waffles, but I've had better ones in Myrtle Beach at other places.

Good food, nice size portions, family atmosphere and the prices were great.I would come here again but I don't like that they don't allow meat substitutions on their grand slam breakfast combination platters. We don't eat pork but they wouldn't let us change it to turkey sausage. Very nice staff.

The food here is phenomenal, and we received it quickly. The waitress told us the food is all made from scratch, and by the taste and presentation, I believe this to be true. Great service and bakery selection. Our family had a diverse order and everything was amazing.

Great breakfast. They were out of bananas. Otherwise, food was awesome. Service was Super. I had the red velvet waffle, plus bacon and eggs. Mrs. Had the cinnamon roll waffle. Good coffee. A little more quality over quantity than your average pancake house, but, that seemed like a good thing. Loved it. Plan to return when they have bananas.

Probably the best breakfast in Myrtle Beach. I got one of the skillets which was very good, well seasoned, and loaded with cheese which is always a plus. My wife and I shared an order of the french toast pound cake which is absolutely amazing! If you haven't had it, its a must! They would have gotten 5 stars if the service had just been a touch better. I ran out of tea which is a big fail for me. Other wise, awesome place, awesome food. Can't wait till next vacation to revisit this place!

Stopped there for first time after reading reviews. Found food to be great and service as well. Had a skillet and wife had a waffle, more than filling and again it was great and the service was as well. Will be stopping by again on our next trip to Myrtle Beach !!!

My favorite breakfast place in all of Myrtle Beach. They're food is amazing and they have a whole lunch menu that their name doesn't even hint about. Full choice of omelettes, pancakes, homemade waffles that are to die for, fajitas, sandwiches, soups, burgers, wraps, seafood, and my favorite the desserts. The owner bakes all the fresh made desserts herself daily. You have choices from cheesecake, to cupcakes, cookies, brownies, puddings, tarts, and cinnamon buns.

Was not expecting much but. The staff from entering the door to leaving were very welcoming and we'll mannered. Menu is large for breakfast. They have something to fix ur sweet tooth at 8am or ur savory fix. Might of seen 1 item over 11 dollars but most under 8 for a full plate. We ordered the following: Chicken and waffles- 3 chicken tenders over a warm waffle. The chicken pieces were very large and very well cooked. Waffle would of been great on its own as well! Country fried steak- flavor is what I'd say for the steak and the gravy was just as good. My eggs were cooked as requested and my side of pancakes were cooked just right. Side of hash- note my partner did not like it cause it was flakey. It was fresh hash and had good flavor. They are use to northern premade hash. Bill for two was 32 buck with 2 coffees and 1 sprite. The waitstaff did a great job. Checked on us 1s but always kept us within eye shot. Plenty of parking and I love the at home feeling inside. What I call a great diner.

Date: September 07, 2015 Time: Breakfast. Wait time: 25 minutes. The restaurant had good ambiance. The waiting area is very small. Unfortunately it was raining so allot of people were crammed into this small area. Flood was good. The server was courteous. Would i go back? Yes.

3.5 I don't give 5's easy. Yelp had failed us a few times on our trip, until we went to Johnny D's a local hometown type of place. You don't go for decor, you go for good food and service. Since the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out service was a 10!!! From manager to busser smiles and on top of it. We went when my husband heard red velvet waffles and it didn't disappoint. Large variety of options. Couldn't complain all food was great. We learned something here though is that there is a 11.5% hospitality tax? We did not get taxed this rate anywhere else in town, so it has me wondering now WTF???? So minus .5% until I can figure that out. She did give MILITARY discount... All in all will be our breakfast joint.

I'm very glad we found Johnny D's! Along HWY 17 there are many pancake houses but I can assure you that none compare to Johnny D's! From the omelets, to the scrambles, the pancakes, to the waffles, this place is great from top to bottom. The staff here is very friendly and prompt, seeing that you get and have everything that you need during your meal. I will be back on my next visit as this is the type of place you do not skip over when you are in the area.

  • Sheila M.

This place is absolutely AMAZING!! The staff has that perfect amount of southern charm and the food was delicious! It's certainly a place to visit when in town! When we were dining in, there were a group of retired locals that walked in and apparently they're there every day :) their chef was kind enough to walk out of the kitchen and check on us! I can't say enough about this place! You should definitely check it out!

This place was awesome! Great service from start to finish. Everyone was so welcoming and the head chef even comes around and makes her round to welcome you to the place and ask if everything is to your liking. We had ordered the santa fe omelet, the blueberry waffle ($7), and the red velvet pancakes ($8). Everything was wonderful. When we ordered a coffee they came with a small tin filled with milk. The vanilla latte was made to order at the coffee bar. I love when places have great attention to detail for coffee drinks! If i'm ever back in Myrtle Beach i'll make sure to come back here!

From the moment you walk into Johnny D's you feel at home. The food is wonderful! From their homemade Belgian waffles to their omelets..your tummy will always leave a happy camper! This was out first visit, after having asked several locals what their favorite spot was, and we weren't disappointed! The owner greeted us when we walked in, shook our hands and in his adorable New York accent told us "we's a gunna win your business today". Boy, did he ever! The service was on the spot, our drinks stayed full and the food was divine! We can't wait to come back again!! Thanks, Johnny D!

This place was just what we needed before leaving Myrtle Beach. Breakfast was great here. As soon as we walked in we was greeted by the hostess and the owner. Something told me that got looks like someone named Johnny! It was lol!! The food here was amazing as well as the service. Loved the way the owner interacted with everyone. He even introduced himself and his daughter who was the executive chef there and the brains behind the great menu. I had the French toast pound cake which was different but absolutely amazing. Get it, you won't be disappointed !! Great place !!!

  • Pamela S.

Great menu. Friendly service. Delicious food! I had the Enchilada Omelet and it was very good! The veggies were fresh, the avocado was perfectly ripe, and the sauce was spicy without being too salty (unlike many enchilada sauces). My son had the Red Velvet Waffle and liked it very much. My husband had an omelet, too...and also liked it. Our only complaint was the coffee. It was very bitter! Not strong, but "bitter". That was let down, but it won't prevent us from going back the next time we're in town.

Im a tourist and found this place on Yelp. Within walking distance from our timeshare with great reviews. Decided to check it out. So glad I did! First greeted quite warmly by the owner at the hostess stand. Large menu-lots of choices but I already decided to get chicken and waffles as it is a southern thing and I was in the south. Mom ordered eggs benedict..I think the Californian as we are from there. Service was excellent and food too! The chicken was very tender and not greasey. Quite happy with our orders. See pictures.. Used restroom, all that coffee and walking back..they had some kind of hand scrub that was really good. Made my hands really soft. Ends up they sell the stuff so I bought it. Look forward to using it! This place also had lots of customers and we were there mid week so it seems like a local hang out. Probably be a wait on Saturdays!

My family and I came here for breakfast while vacationing and after reading some other reviews, I was a bit skeptical but decided to try it anyway. We were pleasantly surprised. The wait was about what I expected at 1030 on Sunday morning but once seated, our order was quickly brought to the table. Il everything was delicious! (I sampled from everyone's plate ) The Irish skillet was delicious. The cinnamon roll waffle, French toast, blueberry Waffle, and Banana split waffles were amazing! Fresh ingredients make all the difference! Check it out! I'll definitely visit again!

Great breakfast!! Waffles are like a dessert! My favorites on the menu include the Cinnaroll Waffle and The Seafood Omelette (made with she-crab soup). If you go on the weekend they have cheaper mimosas. You can't go wrong with this place, but expect to wait especially in the summer! Definitely worth it though!

  • Christy J.

After reading other reviews, I was excited about trying this place. My daughter and I were seated quickly as we went after the breakfast rush. I ordered the western omelet with home fries. When my omelet arrived it looked delicious. Unfortunately, it was cool in the center and runny. I like my omelettes to be fluffy. Now on to the home fries which were also cold. They were shaped like round discs and flavored with old bay like seasoning without salt. I did not enjoy this meal. It was disappointing. However, my daughter enjoyed her French dip sandwich but found a used sweet n low packet at the bottom of her tea.

After several trips to Myrtle Beach we finally found a great place to have breakfast! We loved the selection on their menu and ultimately decided to go with waffles since that's what they advertise for in their name. My husband had the bacon and pecan and I got the cinnamon roll and they were both delicious! The restaurant was clean and the service was quick and friendly! We will definitely be eating here again!

An imaginative redo of a Pizza Hut from the 70s. The slanted glass windows are cleverly disguised with shutters. The trapezoid panels between the windows on the interior are filled with wall murals depicting beach scenes. Each light fixture sports a shade splashed with sea foam. The atmosphere is light and airy, very beach-y. I was drawn magnetically to The Poundcake French toast. It was delicious, light in the egg probably because it doesn't soak up enough, which proved my decision to order an extra egg scrambled on the side right. The strawberries were fresh, unblemished and flavorful. Whipped cream was good. The one egg side was nicely scrambled. My wife had the banana bread French toast, which she declared tasty but a small portion due to the natural size of the bread. I shared a side of bacon with her. As she said, "They know how to cook bacon." Crisp, thin and cooked between soft and hard.

Wait was long but it was worth it! The food came out quickly. In fact, we waited longer to sit down. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which were more like Chicken tenders and Waffles. Was not the best Chicken and Waffle I have ever eaten but hit the spot and worth the money. My daughter had the French Toast which was amazing and made with homemade bread. The coffee smelled and tasted great. I will definitely visit again when I am in the area. All the staff were friendly. My only complaint was the waitress was not as attentive as I would like. They were busy and she had a number of tables but management should have recognized this.

I got the Farmers omelet and it was pretty good. French toast was only ok, kind of dry, nothing special. Coffee was ok. Cute beachy decorations in the dining area. Appeared clean.

Amazing food! 7 of us went. We were seated fast and the food came out in record time. We may go here every morning! The menu is very impressive with so much to choose from. Having two girls that are picky eaters, they were easily accommodated. Highly recommend a visit to this restaurant!

  • Abby C.

This place was absolutely packed when we got there, but service was still quick. We sat at our table long enough to not feel rushed, but fast enough that the wait isn't long for the next group. I had the funfetti waffle that was very good! I got the cream cheese icing on the side because I thought it might be too sweet and I was right. It was fluffy and delicious and hardly needed syrup. Everyone else in my group went with eggs and homefries and weren't as happy with their meal as I was. Johnny D's seems to be known for their waffles, so get one if you come here. There are sooo many different kinds to choose from like red velvet, cinnamon roll, etc.

Great service, excellent food, very welcoming staff, clean restaurant. Their menu is unique and they have a ton of options for everything from Eggs Benedict, to waffles, french toast, and pancakes. My entire family loved their breakfast and our waitress was wonderful.

Great place for breakfast. We had the Johnny D's skillet and the Banna Coconut waffle. The skillet was well made, and had eggs, potatoes, sweet bell pepers, onion, cheese, and hot Italian sausage served with a grilled English muffin. The waffle was battered and fried like french toast and then topped with bananas, flaked coconut and drizzled with chocolate sauce. If you get coffee you get a bottomless carafe so there's no need to wait for a refill. I will definitely be back to try more. Maybe even lunch.

We loved it!!! Probably the best meal we've had the past few days here. Everyone is supper nice. Grits were to my Southern standards. Waffle was wonderful! Hubby loved his Farmers Omelette and home fries. Saw a lot of locals, which is always a good sign. We will be back on our next visit!!!

We were recommended by locals and fellow yelpers to try this place--it was a toss up between this and Dino's, and this one won recommendation based establishments advice....after we tried it, Dino's wins our vote. First off when you walk into this place, the staff looks miserable and they greet you in the most insincere manner. We ordered the Pineapple, coconut and Pecan waffle which was tasty but a bit dry; French Toast which was very good; Chicken Fried Steak was great, their gravy barely average; home fries/hashbrowns , god awful in taste, coldness and not cooked enough; cinnamon pancake just ok--picture did it some serious justice--thank goodness for photoshop. Icing on the cake was when I asked waitress if she has any brown sugar and she said no, and I asked her if they had any in the back as it is odd to have items that have pecans in them and not have brown sugar....we patiently awaited since this is our preference in coffee, but to no avail--we resorted to the table sugar. When she returned, we asked about the sugar and she responded that she forgot but she did ask and they had none. Strange, but ok. About 10 minutes later she came back with sugar and said they did have some--we used it in the next cup of mediocre coffee. Food was decent, not great--service DEPLORABLE! This young girl barely cracked a smile, made us feel like we were bothering her by ordering and back at the ranch, we never complained about anything! Will we be back--NO! We were happily welcomed, received and treated at their fellow competitors, Dino's Pancake house and everything there was EXQUISITE from coffee, to brown sugar to the ever so cheery waitress. Johnny D's get a C+ in Food and and an F in service...guess when you average the two, that's how it becomes Johnny D!

Asked for well done eggs. Waitress said "I would have to ask if they can do it". We won't come back. So disappointed.

Nice family-fun atmosphere. Great waffles, go figure. Fast service, good prices. And great mimosas. Had the chicken and waffles. Waffle was absolutely perfect, fluffy and moist. It was a golden brown beauty. Chicken was pretty good, it was homemade for sure but nothing to write home about. Wifey had the French toast...good. But still go with a waffle. Did I mention the mimosa?

Our family of 12 went for breakfast on a Thursday morning. They were very accommodating and the owner Johnny was wonderful. Everything was amazing! We had the Irish skillet, pecan waffles, pork Belly Benedict (unbelievable), funfetti waffle, French toast, Cajun skillet and crispy chicken wrap. It was all delicious and our waitress Dana was fabulous! Love this place! A must visit for every trip to Myrtle Beach!

Best breakfast joint in South Carolina. You have to get waffles or eggs Benedict. Service, food and atmosphere was all four stars.

OF COURSE we discovered this gem on our last day in Myrtle. We found it based on the reviews on yelp when we searched for a breakfast place this morning. Our server was so sweet; I wish we had gotten her name because she was fantastic. She recommended the Irish skillet to me because she said that the place makes its own corned beef hash in house. It was so juicy and flavorful. Not an enormous portion, really it was just enough food. The English muffin on the side tasted homemade and was also delicious. My boyfriend got the grand slam breakfast which was good but let's be honest, mine was totally the best. The gentleman who I believe must have been the owner (Johnny?) stopped by to make sure everything was good. I am always so impressed when managers do this. I think it's the mark of good management when it comes from a genuine place. Overall, I cannot wait to return when we come back to MB. This was far and away the best breakfast we had on this vacation. And to our server and the other sweet ladies at the counter: I may not have gotten your names but you complimented me on my hair braids which was so nice! Thank you again and have a great 4th of July!

Went because of the great reviews..mistake. Pleasant staff but this ain't no breakfast place for southern boy. Toast was burnt on one side, poached egg had a runny egg white which is enough to gag me, the secret recipe home fries well the secret is apparently old bay and you don't have to store that in a vault nobody below the mason Dixon line is going to steal it. Chicken and waffles ok but the chicken tastes like frozen chicken tenders. Hollandaise sauce had literally no taste I didn't think that was possible but it was.

We decided to give this place a try after looking at the Yelp reviews, and we weren't disappointed. The waffles and eggs Benedict were really good. The prices were reasonable (~$10/pp) and the service was fast. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The food was AMAZING!! Went for breakfast and the banana bread french toast was so good and not too sweet which I appreciated. The breads, muffins and cupcakes are all made in house. So we got cupcakes to go!! The service was very friendly, as well.

This place is a MUST!! It's a shame we tried this place on our last day because we would have come here multiple times this week. I can't rave enough about the food. Not only does it come out fast it is DELICIOUS!. Each bite packed so much flavor it was amazing. I wasn't expecting to eat so.much but I couldn't stop. I'm still eating writing this review. This was the best breakfast I had in my life. I had the chicken fajita omelete. Others had pancakes, waffles, shrimp, flat bread and fries. What's even better is the service. Friendly and fast, but the owner, yes the actual owner converses with guests and helps out his staff a lot. Will be back when we come to MB again

Breakfast done right. Had breakfast here 3 out of 4 times during our stay. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is quaint. My only complaint is that they ran out of the Life Happens... Cupcakes Help t-shirt. I hope they contact me when they come back in.

This place was absolutely amazing for breakfast! We went during the week around 9:30 in the summer during the week and we were seated right away. The menu is really attractive and lots of options for any picky eaters. Sweet and/or savory they have it! I tried the red velvet latte and it was amazing! I just wish it was bigger. For my breakfast I had the funfetti waffle, which is a waffle with chocolate chips, rainbow sprinkles and cream cheese icing. It was so delicious, no need for sprinkles. My husband got the Jack Attack which is 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 sausage (or 2 bacon). It was largely portioned and delicious! Our bill came to $21.10 before tip, for a Coke, latte, huge waffle and Jack Attack. Great value, definitely recommend!!

We went here during what we thought would be an off-peak time, and was surprised that there was a wait to get a table in the place. I cannot imagine the line that must be there during traditional hours. I ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and added bacon. The biscuits were awesome, what I would expect from a bakery. However, the bacon was not that great and was burned. My wife ordered the cinnamon roll waffle, and was pleased with the choice. The service was fairly slow, and my empty glass sat for quite a while before being refilled with the wrong drink and hurriedly dropped off.

Awesome! We had breakfast here twice during our vacation. The red velvet waffles were delicious and the skillet was good as well. Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their meals. The staff was awesome as well. I'll definitely go back if I ever go back to Myrtle Beach.

Of course I Found this place via yelp reviews.....this place has great breakfast food with plenty to choose from. I ordered the red velvet waffles and they are phenomenal!!!!

Several locals to the area said this was probably the best breakfast place in town and it sure seems like they were right. This place was fantastic. I had the Cinnaroll Waffle and some scrambled eggs, everything was great. The price is more than reasonable, the wait staff was friendly and the small town breakfast diner vibe was on point. If you want to steer clear of the chain places and get some great breakfast food, this is the place to go. If I had to say one negative thing it would be the chairs, they are not comfortable. That said, I'll take uncomfortable chairs any day for this kind of place.

I arrived in Myrtle Beach this morning with my family and thanks to yelp, this was the first we visited. We were warmly greeted and sat immediately. My mother and I both ordered mimosas which were good, but not great. However, for $3.50 (Sat/Sun special) they were on par. My brother and I ordered waffles. He got the cinnamon roll waffle will I got the banana coconut chocolate warm. Both we outstanding. My mother just got eggs over easy with bacon and home fries. She was very happy with her meal. I tried the home fries and they were fantastic. Warm and flavorful and slightly crispy on top. I'm sure we will find out way back here sometime this week.

Talk about a warm welcome from a nice gentlemen greeter (owner, maybe?) Our waitress was great and the food was absolutely delicious! I requested the chicken and waffles (cinnamon roll) and my family chose other meals. You couldn't beat the prices either!!

I have experienced a little slice of heaven here in Myrtle Beach at Johnny D's. The cinnaroll waffle is the best waffle I have ever had in my life. Not only is the food good but the service is stellar. You have got to try this place. Did I mention the cinnaroll waffle?

Excellent food and fast service. As soon as we ordered the food came out almost immediately. Although it was busy we did not have a wait long to get seated. Service was excellent as well. Affordable prices. They have a red velvet latte which was amazing. Country ham was really good as well! Lots of options on the menu. Only downside is they close at 2 pm.

We really enjoyed our brunch at Johnny D's yesterday. The waffles were light and fluffy and the bacon perfect. Service was friendly and prompt. What impressed me the most was that the management was so attentive. At a table near us, a couple got up and left when their food came. It did not create a huge disturbance, but as it happened right next to us I saw the waitress talk to the manager. The manager went out to the parking lot to talk to the couple. I'll never know exactly know what the issue was, but 10 min later the couple came back in and sat down and their food was recooked and brought to them. I appreciate that in a restaurant. The management obviously cared about the satisfaction of the guests and went out of their way to make it right without a huge scene.

After many bad food experiences in Myrtle Beach it was great to find a delicious breakfast! We were seated immediately and the service was fast and friendly! The owner was present to greet guests and knew many regulars by name but did not ignore us tourists either. Try the waffles!

BAM! Love waffles! This little place is great. I like the small old school type of feel that this place puts off when you walk in. We were greeted as if we had been there a million times before, sat quickly, and had our drinks within minutes of getting our seat. I asked the server about the menu items that intrigued me the most and she knew what she was talking about. I ordered the home fires and the rainbow waffle with a side of bacon. The waffle was nothing short of amazing. It had rainbow sprinkles in it (judge away) and was topped with powdered sugar, butter, and syrup. It was perfectly cooked and crispy. The home fires were a bit greasier than I would like which covered some of the flavor of the dish. The prices were fair and affordable as well. This will be a place we will visit again when we make it back to the beach. Awesome stuff! Service - 4.5 Atmosphere - 3 Cleanliness - 4 Food - 4.5 Value - 4 Total - 4

Fantastic menu with unique foodie goodness!! Quickly seated even though busy, fantastic service, delicious meal, and adorable dessert case. The bathroom even has amazing salt scrub. Added bonus, the owner Johnny B, works there and is absolutely charming. Best breakfast in a long time!!

While we were on vacation in Myrtle Beach, we went to town at Johnny d's! It was a solid breakfast choice and warmed my heart. The options were so good I wavered for a while between the Stuffed French toast and the Cinnamon roll waffle and finally went with the Cinnamon waffle since it is a waffle house after all, and boy was I happy?! I eat every last bite and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also had some scrambles eggs with cheese on the side but that was not too good just ok...luckily my other food made up for it. I just needed a little saltiness to balance out the sweet.

Found this gem on yelp this morning. Definitely worth the 15 minute wait. We had the red velvet waffles, awesome! The kids had the funfetti waffles and they loved them. Great laid back atmosphere with the most friendly staff. Food was great and prices were extremely fair. Definitely worth passing all those waffle houses on the way there.

Probably the best it will get. My friends and I were on vacation for the weekend and before we even went down there, we obviously looked up food places. The picture of the cinnamon roll waffle had me hooked. We ventured there on a Friday, mid-morning I would say. The place was JAMMIN. It took about 5 minutes or so, probably not even that much to get a table. It did take quite some time for our waitress to come and get our drink orders, but the place was slammed so I let it slide. We all went with different styles of breakfasts. I'm very boring when it comes to breakfast, I usually get the same thing no matter where I go, but my fiance kept yelling at me that I was on vacation and to try something new. I went with eggs, bacon, and the cinnamon roll waffle, duh! Somebody else got the enchilada omelet, possibly a Southwestern omelet and something else. There was so much food on the table that it was hard to keep track. Everything came out super quick and let me tell you. It was SO delicious. I don't think there was any food left by the end of it. We all were eating everything everybody had. The portions were very good and plentiful and the taste was out of this world. I thought that the waffles were going to be your normal "Pinterest" idea where you literally take a cinnamon roll and squeeze it into a waffle maker. No, these were actual waffles with cinnamon and sugar in it. The only gripe I had with mine was I wish they used more of the glaze because there wasn't enough of it and I don't think syrup would have tasted as good on it as that. Other than that, the only other complaint would be they seemed a tad pricey. But for the portions you get and the taste of everything, I didn't care. The boys were very happy we chose this spot and did our research. Probably the best breakfast I've ever had.

Breakfast restaurants can be a bit cramped and they usually leave a lot to be desired in regards to warmth and the atmosphere. Johnny D's was a pleasant surprise! It was clean, nicely decorated, and had a warm feel. We visited on a Sunday morning, so it was extra busy. Our wait was about 20 minutes. I had the cinnamon roll waffle, and it was absolutely the best waffle I've ever eaten. It is not thick like a cinnamon roll, which I was afraid it would be. It has the flavors of a cinnamon roll...in a waffle. It is a MUST try. It was sooo delish! The omelet was also good. The grits were average. My husband got a breakfast combo, and cleaned his plate. We would definitely eat here again.

Best breakfast we have had all week. Little did we know that this gem was located about a mile away from our hotel. We saw other reviews on yelp which were all good so we decided to give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

This place is unbelievable. We ordered the Chipotle Bacon Benedict and the Cinnaroll Waffle and split them among the two of us. Both were absolutely perfect. We're here for 7 days, and are going to go back before we leave on Saturday morning. You have got to try this place.

What a great breakfast place! The staff was very nice, though they didn't believe the girls could really eat as much as they ordered (they proved them wrong;-). The banana split waffle was excellent and combined with the banana bread French toast, the pound cake French toast with strawberries, the enchilada omelette, 3 orders of bacon, sausage links, an order of smoked sausage, a side of fruit and wheat toast, followed up with an order of chocolates chip pancakes, it made for a fun time and my 3 girls and I left full and satisfied. Definitely a come again place if we are ever back in Myrtle Beach.

Great breakfast spot. I had the Cajun chicken skillet- nothing to write home about. Wife had Johnny D's Benedict and it was great. Daughter had the chicken & waffles and they were fantastic. Sons banana split pancake was good too, dessert basically. Only one star deduction for not bringing my daughters food out for about 10 minutes after ours, but they did remove it from the bill without us even asking. I'm sure we will be back again.

This was my first time here. Service was awesome, food was beyond belief- it's like I went back to my German Grandmother's house with her fixing homemade pancakes and French toast. The owner takes a very active role making this place hum along

Thank you YELP! This was the best breakfast spot we found half way through our vacation! The first time we both cleaned our plates and were completely satisfied! We had the Pecan Walfel and the Rancheros. ..Yum! Prices were great, service was friendly, quick timing, and I believe Johnny himself greeted us and overlooked operations! We will be back :)

Good, solid breakfast place. You know it's a local favorite when you walk in and there is a table full of firemen eating happily. The place was slammed, but it didn't effect service or the food at all. One of us had a basic eggs, bacon and fantastic grits. One had a nice, big, fluffy omelet and home fries. My pick was the absolute BEST ever: the cinnamon roll waffle! Amazing! And a breakfast place that has mimosas, that's just a bonus!

Awesome waffles!!!!!! Good service. Definitely a must try for breakfast. We both had eggs with home fries and ordered a regular waffle on the side. One of the best waffles, if not the best, we have ever tried!!! The chef even came out and spoke to us for a few minutes to explain why their waffles are so great!! We were very impressed with that. The place is a decent size and clean. They also have baked goods that looked delicious but we were too full to have anything else.
